Hemstock Design’s expertise were engaged on this project to develop a modernisation programme for the existing golf course, that extended to upgrading the golf facilities and – in turn – updating the club’s golf and sports offering.
The historic patrons of the club included members of the Royal houses in India, Viceroys of the East India Company, as well as eminent civic figureheads and Industrialists. However, golfing and leisure trends and expectations are dynamic and ever-evolving; we are regularly approached by golf clubs to consult them on adapting and staying up to date. It is essential for clubs to be able to attract new members, a significant imperative that we proposed to address here for the Cosmopolitan Club.
Our strategy focused on tried and tested improvments that would be effective in widening the club’s appeal for current members and new members alike. The architectural design element of the programme centred arpound a high specification, double-deck driving range with 32 bays and flood-lighting for maximum playability. The golf academy complex also includes for a reception area with pro-shop, café and first-floor terrace with open air bar, providing views across the existing golf course.
