2010 Commonwealth Games
Hemstock Design took the 8 pitches set within the Delhi University Campus from clay-based and weed-strewn to international tournament level in record time, overseeing the project from design, management of construction, maintenance consultancy and presentation up to and through the tournament itself.
The ‘guaranteed’ monsoon-proof pitches to IRB performance criteria were developed, (in difficult circumstances); the company received glowing testimonials from the IRB (World Rugby) and several participating country teams. A legacy programme to convert the main pitch into a soccer, rugby and cricket stadium, with a ‘de-tuning’ of the maintenance requirements to suit the Universities capacity was also managed through the process.
The company was also involved in quality control work on the Commonwealth Games Jawaharlal Nehru stadium athletics track, with management through the tournament.
