Climbing Wall, Hollingwood Primary School

Design, fabrication and installation of a climbing wall in the main hall of the newly built primary school. Speed of installation and ease of maintenance were paramount, and an innovative matting design reduces storage requirements and increases safety when the wall is not in use.

As part of the sports facilities in this new build primary school, we were asked to design and manage the installation of a traversing-style climbing wall. Due to a tight construction programme and the need for the school to be fully complete for the start of term, only a short window of tiem was available to on-site work.

CNC machining and off-side fabrication was used to expediate the construction process. This allowed the wall to be completely installed in two days, and also guaranteed a consisently high-quality of finish. The design of the impact matting allows the modular mats to be suspended from the wall when not insure. This saves on the need for storage space, protects the wall from damage, and increases safety.
